The Planning Analyst supports an interdisciplinary team dedicated to bringing affordable energy efficient products and services to market in a sustainable manner. This position is responsible for the quantiative modeling to develop market projections and related energy savings forecasts, cost-benefit analysis, and other value metrics for programs within NEEA’s portfolio. This role is highly cross-functional and requires analyzing perspectives from various functions and sources and effectively communicating valuation modeling assumptions and results. The Planning Analyst will also support the department with key deliverables for reporting energy savings and other value metrics for our internal and external stakeholders. Reporting of results are subject to the highest level of scrutiny by board and commissions.
Salary range: $70,000 - $77,000 exempt

The Typical Day May Include…
- Meeting with program teams to discuss the latest market research and evaluation results and how these results will influence future program direction and resulting energy savings forecast.
- Researching models and assumptions from our Northwest Power and Conservation Council to investigate methodology and technical assumptions and build the case of efficiency potential for a program.
- Presenting information to our Advisory Committees to discuss assumptions used for reporting efficiency within the community of funders.
- Estimating the ‘what if’s’ of a program to establish the range of potential market adoption of emerging technology in energy efficiency products.
- Meeting with your market research and evaluation partner to define what questions need to be answered in the next round of research in order to better inform your forecasting assumptions.

You Likely Have The Following Experience:
- Performing modeling, analysis and synthesis using data.
- Ability to identify right questions to ask to translate logic model, initiative strategy and objectives and market research and evaluation reports to get best estimate of forecasted adoption and savings, identify gaps/needs in data, create trend analysis, sensitivity analyses, and risk and opportunity assessments, and provide supporting recommendations to guide boundaries and associated decision making.
- Ability to understand data structure and generate reports to synthesize data appropriately via database technology.
- Manages to high level of modeling detail, understands application of technical energy efficiency modeling components such as load shapes, costs, first year savings and retirements, Power plan measures, level of rigor for assumptions.
- Working with others to collaborate on program needs and outcomes.
Your Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in financial planning or analysis, operations research, and/or economic analysis and modeling required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field required.
- Prior experience with Commercial Building, Industrial manufacturing, or Residential homes a plus.
- Experience applying quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Strong Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Even Stronger Excel skills.
- Strong investigative and exploratory skills.
- Able to navigate competing opinions to generate forecasted savings.
- Ability to do a combination of communications, coordination, documentation, and detailed technical work in a fast-paced environment.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties will also be considered.
